I’ve discovered that anything within my bathroom (where we keep our altering table) works best for distracting her. I offer her whatever is near to me that they can’t open or harmed with. I’ve given her a hair brush, a pack of wipes, a shut tooth paste, my deodorant, toilet tissue, mascara, contact situation, take your pick. If it is safe enough on her to experience with while I’m altering her I’ll create it for her.
The novelty from the item keeps her busy lengthy enough that i can change her diaper without getting to wrestle her and since I usually offer her another item this trick works each time.
Now when I will alter the diaper I lay her lower and immediately offer her something of mine. I Then go to perform the diaper change.
In case your altering station is incorporated in the baby’s room make certain you bring along with you something interesting to help keep her busy before you decide to set her with that table. Also, make certain you bring something different every time. You are able to repeat the products just don’t repeat them as well frequently or even the novelty will put on off as well as your baby will return to fighting diaper changes.

10 THINGS I WISH I'D KNOWN BEFORE HAVING A BABY | EMILY NORRIS
Video COMMENTS:
- Lola Crystal: Where’s your jumper from?
- Starlight5: Love your accent!!
- Livanjka21: I wish I knew everything! My parents told me only about the beautiful things. I really thought being a mom is wonderful 24/7! My mom told me that it was easy for her raising 4 kids. She never complained in front of us! So I never had any idea how hard it can be. I wasn't prepared for my own kids well enough but it seems like no parent is ever! There is always a new situation we have to face every day! It's like having your own company with big responsibilities but you have no clue what you should do.
- Elly Mccollum: This is beautiful. Tears in my eyes. My son will be six.
- colourful_canvas: I needed to hear this today. I love watching your videos and I started watching them when I was pregnant. Now my baby is 10 months old and I was just thinking to myself today.. What has happened and how much life has changed obviously for the better. There are so many changes in me as a mum and as a person. But this video was really relaxing to watch and thank you Emily!! I feel so much better now. Please keep the lovely content coming 🙂
- Yoga with Kara: Great video – I love 'You know your baby best'. I teach pregnancy and postnatal yoga and there's almost too much advice thrust on new mums that they can find it hard to listen to their intuition Xx
- Lulabell Harron: So nice to watch, having my first baby in a few weeks and so nervous! Thank you xxx
- Andy Dawn: I’m apparently pregnant, but I’m going to be putting them up for adoption because I’m not able to take care of them, I’m in college and I don’t have a job so it wouldn’t be a good environment for a baby

2. There is no expert on your baby except for you. Trust your instincts.
3. Get your partner on board with parenting rules.
4. Get your baby into a routine as soon as you can.
5. Naps are not the be all end all.
6. Changing a diaper is no big deal, it's a great bonding time.
